The adult brain remains buildable.
Adaptation needs a growth factor to build with and a transcription switch to make the change durable (BDNF, CREB). The balance of excitation against inhibition decides whether learning can occur at all (GABA), mood transmission colors what is encoded (serotonin), and the gut reports upward along a single nerve (vagus). Sleep consolidates the result; relapse pressure runs on its own stress peptide (CRF). Transmitter level is set as much by clearance as by release, through two enzymes degrading them on different timescales (MAO-A, MAO-B), with alertness (norepinephrine), the reward circuit, attention regulation, feeding drive (NPY) and fatigue moving on that balance.
A brain rebuilds on conditions. New neuron growth and cell survival need mitochondrial energy and the master antioxidant to proceed, and brain inflammation, inflammation and the inflammatory alarm are what stall them. Cortisol and sympathetic drive set the ceiling, the body clock sets the timing, and the gut barrier supplies much of the signal that travels up the nerve. A rebuilt system shows first in motivation and recovery, then in the tissue that renews fastest — skin, muscle and sexual function. Immune support, blood-sugar handling, insulin sensitivity and weight follow on a slower clock.
Seventeen primary pathways of the fifty it targets. A pathway opens only on graded, published evidence, shown with its source at the ingredient level.

The story of Rewire (Total Brain Reset)
Rewire — ‘The Architect’ — for a brain that can still be redesigned. For most of the last century, the adult brain was thought to be finished: wired in youth, then slowly worn down. That turned out to be wrong. The brain rebuilds itself every day, strengthening the connections you use and pruning the ones you do not (synaptic plasticity). You are living inside a building that is being redesigned around you. The only question is who holds the plans. The redesign runs on a few master tools. A growth factor lets neurons sprout new branches and form new connections (BDNF). A switch inside the nucleus decides whether an experience becomes a lasting change, by turning a signal into a gene being read (CREB). Together they are how a habit becomes a groove, and how a groove, with work, can be filled in and redrawn. The same tools are at work in everything you feel. The wellbeing messenger that shapes mood and patience (serotonin). The focus chemical that sharpens attention (noradrenergic tone). The enzymes that clear those messengers once their work is done (MAO-A and MAO-B). The calming current that keeps the whole system from running hot (GABA). The circuit that rewards whatever we repeat, the one that habits and compulsions learn to hijack (reward). And the long nerve that carries a constant stream of reports from the gut to the brain (the vagus nerve, the gut-brain line). When those systems drift, the building shows it. Mood loses its floor (mood). Attention scatters and will not hold (ADHD). Sleep stops restoring (sleep), the tank never fills (fatigue), and the stress igniter keeps striking a match (CRF). Rewire hands the plans back to you. It supports the tools of redesign and steadies the messengers that set mood and focus. It quiets the stress igniter, protects the sleep in which the rebuilding happens, and strengthens the line from gut to brain. The brain rebuilds toward what you want rather than toward what happened to you. Rebuilding is as much about what is cleared as what is made. Monoamine breakdown and dopamine breakdown decide how long the mood and drive chemicals linger, and the difference between a steady week and a flat one is often that clearance rather than any shortage. The stress-relapse axis that returns a person to an old pattern runs on its own peptide, and the drive to eat sits on the same circuitry as the drive to do anything else. Around them the conditions have to hold: cortisol down and sympathetic drive with it, the body clock set, sleep protected, and the cell’s own mitochondrial energy and survival signals steady enough for new growth to take. Inflammation, its alarm and inflammatory signaling stall the work; antioxidant defense and the metal-binding protein hold the line. What a rebuilt system shows first is motivation and recovery, then the tissue that renews fastest — skin, muscle, sexual function — with immune support, a settled gut, blood-sugar support, insulin sensitivity, fasting insulin, the kidney, vision, cramp-free nights, anxiety and fertility following on a slower clock. The brain was never finished. Neither are you.

The studies, ingredient by ingredient
Luobuma, the leaf northwest China brews as tea, eases the load on the stress response (HPA axis). In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 476 adults seeking relief from stress, perceived stress and sleep disturbance improved significantly faster than on placebo over six weeks, and those on the leaf were significantly more likely to reach a clinically meaningful drop in stress.
Ashwagandha significantly reduced serum cortisol and perceived-stress scores in randomized placebo-controlled trials (meta-analyses: ~11-33% cortisol reduction across 12 randomized trials and 1000+ participants).
Brahmi, Ayurveda's memory herb. Pooled across nine randomized, placebo-controlled trials of twelve weeks or longer, it quickened the mind itself: choice reaction time ran 10.6 milliseconds faster than on placebo, and the time it takes to shift attention between tasks shortened with it.
Here turmeric works the brain: it lifts serotonin and growth factors, calms the stress axis, cools neural inflammation and its alarms, and guards neurons.
Ginkgo's leaf, tested as a standardized extract (EGb 761). Pooled across nine trials and 2,561 patients over 22 to 26 weeks, it improved cognition, daily function and clinicians' overall ratings against placebo in cognitive impairment; across 21 studies in depression, Hamilton scores ran 2.86 points below control by week four and 4.58 below by week eight.
Moves the body clock rather than sedating: across 30 randomized trials, sleep timing shifted earlier.
Lemon balm's rosmarinic acid slows the enzyme that clears the brain's calming signal (GABA transaminase), so the brake a racing mind needs stays applied longer. Pooled across randomized clinical trials, it lowered anxiety scores by a standardized 0.98 and depressive symptoms by 0.47 against placebo, without serious side effects.
Pyrroloquinoline quinone, a coenzyme found in kiwi and natto. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 34 older adults with mild cognitive impairment, six weeks raised serum BDNF, the brain's own fertilizer for new connections, significantly, while placebo did not move it.
In a phase III randomized, double-blind trial, eased mental fatigue, sharpened performance and lowered waking cortisol.
Matched a prescription antidepressant over six weeks in mild to moderate depression, with fewer side effects; beat placebo across trials.
Broccoli sprout sulforaphane flips on antioxidant defense and glutathione conjugation, quiets inflammation, powers neurons and sharpens insulin's hearing.
Creatine, the phosphate reserve of muscle and brain alike, stands ready to recharge ATP in an instant, lending energy to neurons that regulate drive and mood.
Tulsi, the sacred basil of Indian courtyards, is an adaptogen in the strict sense: the stress hormone answers to it. In a pre-registered, eight-week randomized, double-blind trial of 100 stressed adults, perceived stress fell and mood and sleep improved against placebo, while cortisol fell in saliva after an acute stress test and in hair across the weeks.
In randomized controlled trials L-theanine eased stress-related symptoms, improved sleep quality and lowered anxiety.
Lavender oil quiets a nerve that fires too readily by damping its calcium channels (voltage-gated calcium channels), not by working through serotonin. In all five completed double-blind, placebo-controlled trials of an oral lavender oil preparation, 1,213 adults over ten weeks, it beat placebo on the Hamilton anxiety scale and on the patients' own ratings.
Yamabushitake, the monk's-beard mushroom, carries hericenones that raise brain growth factors, spur new neurons and rewiring, and shelter them from attrition.
Magnesium cuts perceived stress by more than four in ten over eight weeks in adults low on magnesium and high on stress.
Mucuna pruriens seed is 4-6% natural L-DOPA (the dopamine precursor); a systematic review of 5 clinical trials (108 patients) and the Katzenschlager RCT show it raises dopaminergic function with faster onset and no increased dyskinesia compared with synthetic L-DOPA.
NAC, the acetylated form of cysteine, resets the cystine-glutamate exchanger in brain tissue, restoring calm glutamate tone and sparing neurons from excess.
Omega-3 improves depressive symptoms in pregnant and newly delivered women, pooled across 8 placebo-controlled trials in 638 of them at a moderate 0.65.
Maypop, the passionflower of the American South, carries flavonoids that settle the brain's calming receptor (GABA-A). In a double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial of 41 adults, with sleep diaries checked against overnight recordings, sleep quality improved significantly on passionflower tea against placebo.
In mice, two saponin preparations of the root both raised brain serotonin, measured directly in the brain.
Meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials in clinically diagnosed samples find that probiotics (psychobiotics) and prebiotics reduce depression and anxiety symptoms; the microbiota modulates neurotransmitters (serotonin and dopamine), the HPA axis and the vagus nerve.
Vitamin B6 arrives as P5P, the active form the body would otherwise have to convert it into itself - that is the reason for choosing this version.
Blood zinc runs lower in depression — 1.85 micromoles per liter lower across 17 studies, and the shortfall widens with severity.
A small flavone that fits the TrkB receptor as BDNF itself does, switching on the same growth signal that keeps neurons branching and connected.
Agmatine is arginine with one piece removed, and it blocks the NMDA receptor, the brain's main glutamate gate, to produce fast antidepressant-like behavior in animals.
A meta-analysis of four double-blind, placebo-controlled trials found carnosine and anserine over twelve weeks improved global cognition and verbal memory.
A systematic review and meta-analysis of 13 animal studies found Scutellaria baicalensis and its constituents baicalin/baicalein produce significant antidepressant effects in the sucrose-preference, open-field and novelty-suppressed-feeding tests.
Suan Zao Ren, the sour jujube seed, carries jujubosides that quiet orexin's wake signal, so sleep arrives sooner and holds till morning.
Ginsenoside Rb1, purified from Panax ginseng, eased the stress-driven drop in active (phosphorylated) CREB in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex of mice under chronic stress.
An extract of unripe black raspberry fruit restored hippocampal BDNF and phosphorylated CREB, and improved maze memory tests, in mice given a compound that impairs memory.
