The machinery of restraint decides not whether a cell grows, but when it must stop.
An accelerator drives division (c-Myc); a checkpoint inspects each cell before it copies itself (cyclin–CDK–RB); a guardian halts the line when it finds damage (p53). A counter at each chromosome end keeps the division record honest (telomerase). A cell that has served its term is retired without harm to its neighbors (apoptosis), carried out by its executioner protease (caspase-3) and opposed, in balance, by the survival signaling that would hold it in place. Position is held by the fate and patterning signals (Notch, Wnt) and surrendered through the migration switch (EMT), while rapid growth is supplied by the hypoxia, glycolytic and vessel-forming response it recruits (HIF, glycolysis, angiogenesis).
Restraint is a metabolic posture as much as a genetic one. The growth signaling that drives division answers to insulin sensitivity, blood-sugar handling and fasting insulin; fat burning and the switch that stops fat storage change what fuel is available to it; immune support and cytokine signaling decide whether a surveilling immune system is in condition to do its own work. DNA methylation sets which of these are readable at all, with blood flow, cholesterol and weight moving alongside.
Thirteen primary pathways of the twenty-eight it targets. A pathway opens only on graded, published evidence, shown with its source at the ingredient level.

The story of ACB (Cell-Cycle Checkpoint Restraint)
ACB — ‘The Restraint’ — for the discipline that keeps every cell in its place. A healthy body is not only a matter of growth. It is a matter of restraint. Every day, billions of cells receive the instruction to divide, and almost every one of them does it correctly: once, on time, and then stops. The wonder of the body is not that it grows. It is that it knows when not to. That knowledge is written into machinery. There is an accelerator that drives cells toward growth, useful in the right measure and dangerous when stuck (the c-Myc network). There is a checkpoint that inspects each cell before it is allowed to copy itself (the cyclin-CDK-RB checkpoint), and a guardian that halts the line when it finds damage, and calls for repair (p53). There is a counter at the end of every chromosome that records how many times a cell has divided, and keeps the record honest (telomere maintenance, telomerase). When a cell has served its time, or cannot be repaired, the body asks it to leave quietly, without harming its neighbors (apoptosis, the clean exit). The final blade of that exit is an enzyme that dismantles the cell from within (caspase-3, the executioner), and it works in balance against the signals that urge a cell to cling on (cell survival). Order depends on both. There are signals that shape what a cell becomes and whether it stays in its place: the fate-setter (Notch), the pattern-maker of tissues (Wnt), and the shape-shift by which a settled cell loosens its moorings and starts to wander (the epithelial-mesenchymal transition). There is the oxygen sensor that decides how a tissue responds when supply runs short (HIF-1α), the fast, inefficient fuel line a cell turns to when it is under that strain (glycolysis), and the laying of new roads, new vessels, to feed a tissue that asks for more (angiogenesis). ACB is built around keeping every one of those signals measured. Accelerator moderated, checkpoints kept sharp, the guardian awake, the clean exit available, the fuel and the roads matched to real need. Order has a longer memory than any single signal. The caps on the chromosomes keep the division record honest and are protected rather than extended; cell turnover decides whether old material is replaced or merely accumulates; and control over division itself is what every other restraint reports to. A cell that stays where it belongs has not thrown the migration switch, and a tissue that is not starved has no reason to call up the hypoxia response or to fall back on the fast, wasteful way of burning sugar. Around that sit the terms that set the conditions: DNA methylation decides which instructions can be read at all, cytokine signaling and immune support decide whether the surveillance is in condition to do its work, and receptor-level phytoestrogen activity sits where hormone and tissue meet. Blood flow, blood sugar, insulin sensitivity, fasting insulin, fat burning, cholesterol and weight are the quiet arithmetic underneath — the difference between a body with margin and a body without. Restraint is not weakness. In a body, it is the highest form of order.
