Rhythmic pelvic floor contraction

In depth
The few seconds in which the tension built during arousal is released, through rhythmic contractions of the pelvic floor. Those contractions have been recorded instrumentally in both sexes since 1980, and the recordings show real diversity of pattern in women rather than one stereotyped response. It is a separate faculty from desire and from arousal, and the evidence keeps it separate because the evidence does: two independent botanicals moved desire and arousal in trials and left orgasm untouched.
What drives it
Motivation increases it.
Dopaminergic and adrenergic transmission is prosexual and orgasm-promoting, while serotonergic transmission is inhibitory of arousal and orgasm. S0091305714000410 — Review: the pharmacology of the human female orgasm.
Mood (serotonin) reduces it.

Alertness chemical increases it.

Pelvic floor increases it.
10.1016/j.esxm.2021.100441 — Meta-analysis of 21 randomized trials: pelvic floor muscle training improved arousal (1.49; 95% CI 0.13-2.85) and orgasm (1.55; 95% CI 0.13-2.96). reviewers grade the certainty very low — wide intervals, high heterogeneity. Sexual function increases it.
Crocin, at all doses, and the extract, especially at the higher doses, increased MF, if and EF behaviors and reduced EL, IL and ML parameters. Safranal did not show aphrodisiac effects. PMC4045980
Female libido increases it.
The Rosa damascene oil group showed increased sexual desire, orgasms, and satisfaction over time, with decreased pain compared to the placebo group. PMC4045980
Vessel wall muscle increases it.
orgasm has been described as the climax of sexual arousal, the few seconds during which the vasoconcentration and myotonia developed from sexual stimulation are released. S0091305714000410 Sources:. PMID 19138376
Blood flow (nitric oxide) increases it.
When the woman is in her basal state with no sexual arousal the blood flow to the vagina is minimal, creating a hypoxic condition at the surface and lumen of the vagina. S0091305714000410 Sources:. PMID 19138376
What it drives
It increases Prolactin.

It increases Social bonding hormone.
