Reduces sugar damage
AGEs↓

You want them minimized: fewer AGEs mean suppler vessels and slower metabolic aging.
In depth
Advanced glycation end-products — the sugar-damaged proteins that stiffen tissue and inflame the vessel wall.
What drives it
Blood-sugar support increases it.
Brownlee 2001, Nature 414:813 — hyperglycemia raises AGE-precursor flux, a unifying mechanism of glucose toxicity. Mechanism, precisely: during sustained hyperglycemia glucose reacts non-enzymatically with amino groups of proteins, lipids and nucleic acids by the classical MAILLARD reaction — Schiff base, then AMADORI rearrangement, then oxidative modification (glycoxidation) — to yield AGEs. Uncontrolled hyperglycemia is named the principal aetiology of diabetic complications precisely because it produces AGEs. AGEs ACT by two separate routes: receptor-mediated signaling through RAGE, driving oxidative stress and inflammation; and receptor-independent cross-linking of structural proteins such as collagen, causing tissue stiffness and impaired compliance. Not diabetes-specific: AGEs are also implicated in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis and aging. Metabolic memory — the caveat that changes the practical claim: the literature explicitly frames non-enzymatic glycation of proteins, lipids and nucleic acids as producing a persistent effect. AGEs accumulate preferentially in tissues with low protein turnover, particularly the extracellular matrix, which is why damage outlives the exposure. Restoring glucose control does not immediately unwind what has already been cross-linked.
