Xanthohumol
Humulus lupulus
In mice on a high-fat diet, xanthohumol from hops brought liver ceramide itself down, read lipid by lipid.
What the evidence shows
Every line below is carried on the blend page that makes the claim. Follow it to the pathway and its sources.
In the dish and in mice, xanthohumol, the hops flavonoid, starves colon growths of the sugar they run on: grafts reached 275 cubic millimeters against 655 untreated, no weight lost. Cells kept on the Akt signal escaped, which names the lever.
Hops give xanthohumol, one of the few plant compounds shown to bond straight onto the sensor protein; the bond was read off by mass spectrometry rather than inferred, and cells and mice both show the antioxidant genes answering.
Hops, the bitter cone of the brewer's garden, lends tannins and bitter acids that quiet fat storage and help the frame carry less of it over time.
