Dendrobium
Dendrobium, the orchid stem of Chinese medicine, carries polysaccharides that feed friendly gut bacteria and build a gut lining that holds firm.
What the evidence shows
Every line below is carried on the blend page that makes the claim. Follow it to the pathway and its sources.
In animals, Dendrobium officinale polysaccharide extended forced swimming, lowered blood lactate and raised SOD, and in one model outperformed a Rhodiola comparator by topping up liver glycogen.
Syringic acid from dendrobium stem blocks the aldose reductase enzyme and protects its proteins, so the lens stays clear.
An orchid that grows on rock and bark rather than soil, chewed fresh or decocted dry, and classically given where things have run dry rather than where they have run hot.
Dendrobium's alkaloid rescues memory in mice, and the proof is unusually hard: strip out the NLRP3 inflammation sensor and the protection disappears completely, so that pathway is required, not just present.
