Licensed in China since 2002 for low white-cell counts, snow fungus also lowered HbA1c and waist size in a double-blind trial of 56 adults with prediabetes.
In a randomized human trial its polysaccharide improved self-reported memory and thinking complaints; in animals it restored memory through the CREB and acetylcholine systems, raising nerve growth factors and acting against amyloid-beta.
