Phase Two, Route Two
A low-capacity, Easily Saturated Route. Sulfation is fast at low doses and saturates quickly, at which point the load shifts to glucuronidation. It depends on sulfate supply, which traces back to cysteine and therefore to the transsulfuration pathway.
In depth
Sulfotransferase conjugation using paps, the activated sulfate donor.
What drives it
Antioxidant defense increases it.
NRF2 induces sulfotransferase expression. Carried by the intermediary-metabolism, micronutrient and clinical reviews. doi 10.3390/nu18132141 · PMC9967593
Sulfur clearance route increases it.
