Fatty acid receptor
You want the loop visible. Medium- and long-chain fatty acids bind here and inhibit the messenger, which means fat leaving the cell is also signaling from outside for the cell to stop. That is the same product-inhibits-reaction pattern as the intracellular route, running in parallel by a completely different mechanism — and it is a further reason the carrier that removes released fat matters so much.
In depth
A receptor for the very fats that release produces — and one more way they stop their own release.
What drives it
Releases stored fat increases it.
10.1016/j.molmet.2020.101103 — Long-chain fatty acids are the direct product of fat release, and they are named as ligands of this receptor (doi 10.3389/fphys.2022.826314). ⇒ the product signals from outside the cell to stop its own production — a parallel to the intracellular acyl-CoA route, by a completely different mechanism. doi 10.1016/j.molmet.2020.101103
What it drives
It reduces The cell's go-signal.
The outside half of the self-inhibition loop. 'MEDIUM- and long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs)... can also conduct anti-lipolytic effects via binding to their respective Gi-coupled receptors GPR91, GPR43, GPR120, GPR109A and Y1R to inhibit cAMP formation' (doi 10.3389/fphys.2022.826314). The fat leaving the cell signals from outside for the cell to stop. doi 10.3389/fphys.2022.826314
