Thiamine status
Thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP)
Also searched as Thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP).
It Gates both the Entry to the tca Cycle and the Pentose Phosphate Pathway. Alcohol impairs absorption, storage and activation simultaneously, and the resulting deficiency produces a neurological emergency — which is why thiamine is given before glucose in that setting, since glucose without thiamine consumes what little remains.
