Lysosomal lipase
Lysosomal acid lipase (LAL)

You want this route intact. It is the enzyme that actually breaks fat down once a droplet has been engulfed rather than cut on its surface — the endpoint of the alternative pathway. It also matters outside fat tissue: the same enzyme releases fat from lipoprotein remnants taken up by blood-vessel cells, which is a second, independent supply line to tissues that burn it.
In depth
The enzyme that finishes the job inside the lysosome when the surface route is not used.
What drives it
Fat droplet autophagy increases it.
'autophagy promotes lipid breakdown by releasing engulfed LDs to lysosomes for degradation' (doi 10.3389/fphys.2022.826314) — the route delivers the substrate to the enzyme. doi 10.3389/fphys.2022.826314
What it drives
It increases Fat droplet autophagy.
'lysosomal acid lipases are ultimately responsible for the acid hydrolysis of the LD-stored neutral lipids and subsequent release of free fatty acids' (doi 10.3389/fphys.2022.826314). The endpoint enzyme of the alternative route. doi 10.3389/fphys.2022.826314
